The Difference is in the Details
Meet The Evangelista Team
“When you have the heart of a teacher, you’re willing to take the time in every presentation to teach. It doesn’t matter if you’re having a conversation with a first-time homebuyer or a seasoned seller; if you’re taking the listing or negotiating an offer. Every conversation is an educational opportunity.”
Even though technically our license says, “salesman,” we approach our role with the heart of a teacher. Instead of trying to convince someone to do something, we help our clients discover what their options are, explaining the pros and cons of each of those options, and then letting them make the decision that is best for them and their families. That’s what a trusted advisor does.
Doing business as The Evangelista Team, we embrace our role with “the heart of a teacher.” We truly care about advising each of our clients to do what’s best for themselves and their families. In order to be able to advise we spend much of our time, when we’re not actively interacting with clients, on learning about new products that could help our clients or new opportunities in the market.
There are many events and experiences in her life that lead Tracy Evangelista to devote her career to helping others achieve their real estate goals. Tracy was raised in Shelton, Connecticut, by hardworking parents. She earned her degree in Hospitality Management from Johnson and Wales University in Rhode Island, and then set out for the sunny shores of South Carolina. Tracy cut her teeth in the hospitality and service industry at the resorts in Hilton Head, but before long made her way to Charleston where she began working for a builder selling new construction homes in 1997. She realized real estate was a natural fit and became a full-time Charleston real estate agent in 1999.
Tracy’s career was in full swing through the booming market of the early 2000’s before the decline started in 2007-2010. The real estate industry throughout the Charleston area, and the entire county, slowed severely during those years, but it’s Tracy’s perseverance through that time that cemented her work ethic that she learned early in her life and her experiences in transactions through that time that have taught her how to think creatively to help each client through their unique situation.
As the market activity progressively returned, Tracy found herself in such demand that adding a team member whom she could trust to provide the same level of service and care was needed. So, in 2015 when Lara Schellenger moved to Charleston and started actively seeking a real estate team to join, the partnership fell into place.
Lara’s almost 10 years of experience in the apartment management industry in the Washington, DC, area partnered with her small town upbringing in rural south western Virginia, and her degree in Psychology from Virginia Tech made a perfect match. After graduating in 2005, Lara moved to the DC area and worked there for Post Properties, where she learned a high level of customer service, versatility, problem solving, and asset management. After nearly 10 years of living in the high-paced metropolitan area Lara and her fiancé decided to move to Charleston where they could enjoy a greater quality of life.
Since Lara joined The Evangelista Team in 2015 and hit the ground running, they have been able to close over 60 transactions, helping almost as many individuals and families buy and sell their homes. And, Tracy now has a little more time to enjoy her husband and two children, while knowing that her clients are in good hands.
Now that you know a little more about The Evangelista Team, we hope you’ll trust us with your business. We look forward to helping you achieve your real estate goals.
